So you might be following a strict diet and doing hardcore exercises but still find it either very difficult to lose weight or haven’t lost any at all. There could be medical reasons because of which your body is not responding to your efforts; such as unbalanced thyroid levels and you could get tests done to figure out why. Another way is that your metabolism is very slow.

Your body’s metabolism is responsible for turning the food you eat into energy. The faster your metabolism is the faster the food will be digested and in turn help you to lose weight. If you’re worried about a slow metabolism then we suggest you keep reading this article, learn a few weight loss tricks and then consult your dietician and gym trainer to help you work your problem.

Most of the exercises we will recommend below are high intensity exercises designed to raise your heart beat and help burn fat. So get those extra absorbent active wear shirts out and get a move on! We recommend doing the below exercises together in a cross fit routine to get optimum results.

1. Burpees

One of the most critical exercises for cardio; burpees will definitely get your heart beat up and make you sweat like a pig! Burpees are a complete body workout that helps you work on your upper body, core and lower body. It involves jumping, making a plank and squat jumps.

Here’s how to do it:

Stand straight with your hands high above your head, jump and come down into a plank position, hold it for a second before bring in your legs as close to your hands creating a frog position. Then stand straight back again. Repeat this for at least 12 times to actually feel the burn in your legs and arms.

Doing this exercise at least three times a day will definitely give you the desired results you are looking for to boost your metabolism!

2. High Knees

This is another high intensity exercise. High knees will help you lose weight from your legs, waist and hips while all the while giving you one of the best cardio workouts.

How to do it:

Stretch your arms in front of you directly above your knees, parallel to your abdomen. Then begin by jumping on alternate legs all the while making sure that your knees touch your hands. If you are a beginner then don’t worry if you are unable to touch your knees to your hands, after a few times you will get a hang of it. Now the trick is to alternate between your legs very quickly for that desired high heart rate.

Doing three sets of this exercise 20 times each will give you the desired effect.

3. Mountain Climbers

Again an excellent exercise designed to help you lose weight from your upper body, abdomen and lower legs. This is an excellent form of cardio that also makes your core stronger.

How to do it:

Go down into a plank position and then continue by pushing one leg so your knee touches the elbow of the alternate arm. Then repeat this same motion but with your other leg. The trick again with this exercise is to alternate motion between both legs as fast possible. And if you are a beginner there is a chance you won’t be able to touch your elbows with your knees at first, but gradually as you become more flexible you will learn to love this exercise.

Doing three sets of this exercise 20 times each will give you the desired effect.

4. Swimming

Swimming is an excellent form of exercising and doing cardio. The force that you use to push your body against water is an excellent form of building muscle resistance. It also helps you lose fat very quickly and raise your heart beat at the same time. You learn how to control your breath and increase your stamina improving your lung capacity.

We recommend swimming at least three times a week.

5. Running

Running or sprinting will definitely raise your heart beat and give you a nice sweat. It is a complete body workout as you are using all your body muscles, especially your feet. Every time you use force to take your feet off the ground to make a motion, your body goes into some stress that is released as soon as you put your other foot down. This constant chase of stress and then releasing stress will make your mind and body active and a regulated breathing pattern will help balance the oxygen levels in your blood. When your body is doing all these things together it helps to lose weight quicker.

Plus by running a couple of times a day, you will definitely build up strong stamina that will help you in your other workouts.
